April 2 Devotional

Dear Friends,

I’m good at growing weeds.  You might say I’m an expert.  I do my yearly battle with whatever the guy at Home Depot recommends, but not matter what, it seems I still have them flourishing in my front yard.  This year, I’m trying a different approach.  I’m doing my best to grow grass!  I prepared the ground, fertilized and seeded with Bermuda grass seed in the hopes that this year might be different.  I’m happy to report that I am seeing signs of life!  Little sprouts of grass peeping up from weed infested ground.

Our spiritual life is indeed like a garden.  Weeds don’t simply go away.  One has to be intentional about getting rid of them and, in turn, planting what you want to grow in its place.

As we enter this Holy Week, I pray you have been preparing your heart to receive the spiritual bounty Christ has in store for you.  It is His gift, specifically designed with you in mind.  I’ll be seeing a lot of you all this week and I look forward to sharing the blessings of fellowship, worship and adoration.  Peace Friends, Scott

I Have Promised to meet all your needs according to My glorious riches.  Your deepest, most constant need is for My Peace.  I have planted Peace in the garden of your heart, where I live; but there are weeds growing there too: pride, worry, selfishness, unbelief.  I am the Gardener, and I am working to rid your heart of these weeds.  I do My work in various ways.  When you sit quietly with Me, I shine the Light of My Presence directly into your heart.  In this heavenly Light, Peace grows abundantly and weeds shrivel up.  I also send trials into your life.  When you trust Me in the midst of trouble, Peace flourishes and weeds die away.  Thank Me for troublesome situations; the Peace they can produce far outweighs the trials you endure.

Philippians 4:19 19And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

2 Corinthians 4:17 17For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.
